Dr. Josep Maria Garcia-Fuentes is an architect and architectural scholar with an intense international activity across teaching, research, and professional practice.

Josep Maria is currently a Senior Lecturer in Architecture (Associate Professor) in the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape at The University of Newcastle (UK), a Fellow at the London School of Economics, for the Catalan Observatory (UK), and a Visiting Professor at the Politecnico di Milano (Italy).

He researches on the connections between architecture, the idea of nature, ecology and the environment, and experimental preservation. Josep Maria has an extensive track of prizes, scholarly essays and publications, and he often collaborates with different public media. Proficient in four languages, he is regularly invited to lecture about his research and his own professional work in seminars, conferences and keynote lectures around the world.

Josep Maria has an extensive career as a practitioner. He is the co-founder together with Marco Chiodi of BMBR - OE, an architectural office aimed to confront theoretical research and applied professional practice at the dynamic intersection of our current cultural, environmental, and ideological challenges.

He splits his time between the United Kingdom, Italy, and Spain.
